Clothes that fit you, not the size on the label
Banu has been pinning hems and reshaping shoulders for twenty-two years. Bring in a gown, a suit or a pair of work trousers. You will get a real fitting, an honest timeline and a price once the work has been measured.
One tailor, start to finish
Banu has been altering clothes for twenty-two years. She still does the fitting, the marking and the sewing herself, so nothing gets lost between the person who measured you and the person at the machine.
Fittings happen in a private room with a proper mirror and a raised platform, on the shoes you plan to wear. If a garment cannot be altered well, she will tell you at the first appointment instead of taking the job.
What we alter
Every job starts with a fitting, and the price is set once the work has been measured. Most everyday work is ready in three to five days.
Wedding Dress Alterations
Gowns are fitted with care so the shape sits right on the day. Lace, beading, tulle and silk are all handled in the studio.
Bodice taken in, cups and straps adjusted
Hems levelled on your wedding shoes
Bustles, corset backs, sleeve changes
Steaming and a final press before pickup
Priced after the first fitting, once the work is measured.
Dress Alterations
Bridesmaid dresses, prom and pageant gowns, cocktail dresses and mother of the bride outfits, fitted so you can move and sit comfortably.
Side seams, waist and bust adjustments
Straps shortened, necklines raised
Linings and slips rehemmed to match
Zipper and closure repairs
Priced after the fitting. Groups of four or more get one shared appointment.
Suit Alterations
Jackets, trousers, waistcoats and overcoats brought into line with your shoulders and your posture. Interview on Monday, we can usually make it work.
Sleeve length from the cuff or the shoulder
Jacket taken in through the waist and back
Trousers tapered, hemmed, cuffed
Working buttonholes and button moves
Priced after the fitting. Full suit packages quoted the same way.
General Clothing Alterations
The clothes you wear every week. Jeans, work shirts, coats, uniforms and the jacket with the torn pocket lining you keep meaning to fix.

What customers say
Questions we get every week
When should I bring my wedding gown in?
Whenever you have the gown and the shoes you plan to wear. Call the studio with your date and Banu will tell you what is workable.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, for anything that needs to be tried on. Drop offs for simple hems can come in during studio hours without one.
What should I bring to a fitting?
The shoes you will wear and the undergarments you plan to wear with the garment. Both change the hem and the fit through the bust and waist.
How long do alterations take?
Most everyday items are ready in three to five days. Suits run about a week. Bridal work depends on the gown and is agreed at the first fitting.
How much will it cost?
The price is set after Banu has seen the garment and measured the work. You get it in writing at the fitting, before anything is sewn.
Do you work on clothes bought online?
Often, yes. Bring the garment in and Banu will tell you at the fitting whether the seams and fabric give her enough to work with.
Book a fitting
Call the studio or send a note with what you need altered and when you need it. Banu answers messages the same day the studio is open.
